Pixel Wedding Rings

For this tutorial you will need 

Paint Shop Pro

The Following Colour Charts 
Save and open in PSP.
Ok we are ready to start.

REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN 

Step 1: Outline
We will be be making the Wedding Rings shown above. The outlines below have been resized a lot so you can see them clearly. 
We will be doing this in 3 parts, first the heart cushion, then each ring separately.
To make this easier I have numbered all pixels over 1.
Open a new image 100 x 100 transparent. 
Add a new raster layer and name it Cushion.
Select the brush tool with the following settings.
Size: 1 - Hardness, Opacity and Density: 100 
Zoom in to about 800% - 1000% 
Set your foreground to colour 1 on the outline colour chart (#691C1C) and start at the top of your canvas.

Step 2: Cushion Fill
When your outline is complete, add a new raster layer and name it Cushion Fill. Move this down in the layer palette until it is below the Cushion layer. 
Click on the Cushion layer to activate it. 
Select your magic wand with the following settings and click inside the Cushion. 
Click on the Cushion Fill layer to activate it and select colour 4 (#962425) on your fill colour chart and flood fill this selection. 
Keep selected. 
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 12
Shadow colour: Use your cushion outline.(#691C1C)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked. 
DO NOT Deselect. 
Defloat.
Add a new raster layer and change your Foreground to white.
Using the count below draw in the white line making sure you are on the new layer.
The green lines and count are the pixel spaces between the edge and the white line.
Once this line is drawn go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - Radius:2
Deselect.
Merge all visible. Rename Cushion.

Step 3: Ring 1 Outline
Add a new raster layer and name it Ring 1.
Select your brush with the same settings we used before and change your Foreground colour to colour 3 on the Colour chart (#A09998). 
Use the count below to draw in your ring outline, making sure you are on the Ring 1 layer. 
The green lines and count are the pixel spaces between the edge and the white line.

Step 4: Ring 1 Fill
When your outline is complete, add a new raster layer and name it Ring 1 Fill. Move this down in the layer palette until it is below the Ring 1 layer. 
Click on the Ring 1 layer to activate it. 
Select your magic wand with the same settings we used earlier click inside ALL the inside ring areas. 
Click on the Ring 1 Fill layer to activate it and select colour 6 (#DCE2E2) on your fill colour chart and flood fill this selection. 
Keep selected. 
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 2
Shadow colour: Use your Ring 1 outline.(#A09998)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked. 
Deselect. 
Hide the cushion layer and merge the ring layers visible. Rename Ring 1.
Unhide the cushion layer and hide Ring 1 layer.

Step 5: Ring 2 Outline
Add a new raster layer and name it Ring 2.
Select your brush with the same settings we used before and change your Foreground colour to colour 2 on the Colour chart (#C09310). 
Use the count below to draw in your ring outline, making sure you are on the Ring 2 layer. 
The green lines and count are the pixel spaces between the edge and the white line.

Step 6: Ring 2 Fill
When your outline is complete, add a new raster layer and name it Ring 2 Fill. Move this down in the layer palette until it is below the Ring 2 layer. 
Click on the Ring 2 layer to activate it. 
Select your magic wand with the same settings we used earlier click inside ALL the inside ring areas. 
Click on the Ring 2 Fill layer to activate it and select colour 5 (#FBEABB) on your fill colour chart and flood fill this selection. 
Keep selected. 
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 2
Shadow colour: Use your Ring 2 outline.(#C09310)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked. 
Deselect. 
Hide the cushion layer and merge the ring 2 layers visible. Rename Ring 2.
Unhide the cushion and Ring 1 layers.

Merge visible and save as a png.
